File size of drwg remains large after deleting pasted image

I'm running AutoCad 2002LT. I opened a drawing with a small file size then pasted some information onto a drawing border, then saved the drawing. The file sized increased substatially. I then deleted the previous pasted items and purged the drawing then re saved the drawing. The drawing file size did not reduce significally. What other proceedures can I take to reduce the drawing file size back to the original. :?

What is your ISAVEPERCENT set to?

    ISAVEPERCENT info from autocad help
Determines the amount of wasted space tolerated in a drawing file. The value of ISAVEPERCENT is an integer between 0 and 100. The default value of 50 means that the estimate of wasted space within the file does not exceed 50 percent of the total file size. Wasted space is eliminated by periodic full saves. When the estimate exceeds 50 percent, the next save will be a full save. This resets the wasted space estimate to 0. If ISAVEPERCENT is set to 0, every save is a full save.

Also if it was an image the 'clean' way to get rid of it is to detach it with the Image Manager... the text command is IMAGE

Kinda wonder why garyc.... used paste instead of inserting the info as a block? Is Microsoft Word mentality creeping into cadd users' frontal lobes?

Eddie: More like he's training to join the CIA or MI6 by trying to decipher those cryptic names AutoCad assigns to pasted images.....

I copy and paste objects between layouts because it's convenient but these objects have already been inserted as block in the drawings so no confusion... and at my age, it's seems easier and easier to get confused...
