View Full Version : Seeing Double

One of the guys who works for us has inserted a massive block into a drawing twice and has exploded both copies of the block!
This has meant that if you need to delete an object you have to delete the top copy and then the bottom copy before anything goes! or if you need to edit an object delete the top copy before you can edit the objects underneath!
I dont suppose anyone knows how to delete or purge all duplicate objects or hidden lines from a drawing.
Cheers if you do!
Haggis.

Sorry I know I'm a bit useless but are you saying it's listed in their forums under the topic OVERKILL? It's just I cant seem to find it! Don't suppose you have the web address!
Thanx Haggis

Usually one word in caps on this forum means you type it into the Autocad Command prompt.
"OVERKILL" is an express tools command...
How anybody knows about that is beyond me, it's not in the pulldown menu or in the express tools help documentation.

I'm glad you said that because I was completely lost before! lol.
I did try typing OVERKILL in console but it didn't work! I'm assuming its because I dont have all of the utils installed
I dont have my Autocad CD to hand so I'll have to try it out later when i get home! Hope you guys don't mind if I give you a shout when I get stuck later on! lol
Cheers for your help guys!

Guess if it were me, I wouldn't have provided even a modestly easy way to correct this clown's mistake(s).
Guarantee that if HE has to erase all those little lines himself, there's a good chance he'll never double insert a block again, let alone explode it. Preferably maybe do it on his own time.
Count your blessings that he decided to take up cad drawing instead of explosive ordinance disposal......
Why the H___ did he explode it after inserting it, anyway? :?

You guys do amaze me! I haven't got a clue how you ever found that command but it worked. Thanks for that!
As for my guy! I gotta go pretty easy on him! he's a noob to CAD after 45 years on the drawing board! A year ago he couldn't even turn a computer on let alone insert a block! To make matters worse we're snowed under with CAD work and I've had to train him up in less than an hour just so he can help me with some of the basic's. I got to admit he's working under a lot of pressure! As soon as the work load drops we'll be able to book him onto a course.
Thanks again for your help guys!

Haggis: O.K., O.K., I withdraw my tirade. Shoulda' known better anyway.
You sound like a nice person, Haggis. Maybe get out of the cad business while people still think of you this way? :o

See this link for an old routine called "DELDUP".
Hope that helps. 8)
