TXTEXP is the command but only if you have installed express tools

O.K., gotta ask.....why do you think you need to explode text? :?

Try plotting to a DXB file.
That should explode your text ... since you don't have the "Express tools".

csiarch -

Exploding text is useful when creating client logos for titleblocks, or anything requiring a text appearance that you don't want to change with drawing preferences.

If the text isn't exploded it's succeptible to global drawing changes.
Sometimes an individual's CAD template file can affect text as well.

And it's a real pain in the a** to try and draw letters with individual pieces of line.

I've been looking for a good LISP to explode text. Most don't work properly, or only work some of the time.

Can anyone help me out?

C.W.: Still can't help you with exploded text issue but I learned something which was why I asked originally.

I occasionally use the client's logo on the front of specifications covers and I usually do a WMFOUT and massage it as neceesary to produce an appropriate image. Just another way of capturing without redrawing.

I was searching for a way to explode text as well.

For all of those who want to know, I will be using the text in CNC programming, and the program that I use does not recognize text for a tool path. Only P-Lines.

I want to know if there is a way to explode the text, so that I can then turn all the individual lines into P-lines.

...well, you might.

On how much time you have saved me. I was trying to get a drawing done, so that I could CNC rout out Psalms from the Bible onto pieces of wood, so that a client of mine can hang in their church. I was going to have to actually sit and draw with lines and arcs all of the letters in these Psalms. Now all I have to do, is go back and "smooth" out the letters using various commands.

Thanks for the great help with the DXB file!!!!

Pardon me for late reply... ive been doing a rush project and somehow it needed some time...

well, i will be using the extruded text for text recesses and extrusion, somewhat like text tags, logos and especially on the recent project ive done which is a university campus seal carved in the walls of the building and some on its frontage...

i dont have any express tools, hope someone can share it ü

well my solution is simple, i used 3ds max for text extrusion then export it in a .dwg file... which somehow after modelling it in cad i will still process it in 3ds max for photorealistic rendering... ü

thanks for the replies on my post...
