I've done my stair case and its 3d but i cant figure out how to get the railing. My stair case is a curved stair case, so i cant figure out how to get the railing to curve and go upwards at the same time. Every way i try it just turns disasterous. I have no clue what else to do. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!!!
Thanks

Extrude railing section along 3d polyline PATH. Ensure that railing section is closed polyline and positioned perpendicular to path to get true shape.

i've never uesed the command PATH when extrudeing, it says "select extrusion path or(Taper angle) , i dont know what to put in.?

You can extrude any closed polyline object along a 2D (single plane) polyline or 3D polyline line.

In your case, you would have to first draw the 3D polyline at a contant height above the nosings, assumedly measured from the same common point on each riser.

Once you figure out how to do this and get it the way you want it (the hard part) place a closed polyline outline (section) of your stair railing at one end then start the extrude command.

If everything works right, you should get a 3D solid stair railing object that runs from one end of the path to the other (the easy part).

There are some 3D helix lisp routine around that might be of help with generating the path. Haven't used them myself but they might work for you...

Taper angle, BTW, is handy if you're doing mold drawings for castings. If extruding in one direction, you can specify a taper angle and the resulting solid will have sloped walls to the taper angle specified.

Path is simply the heretofore mentioned 2D or 3D polyline.

Good Luck!
