Unable to edit entities in viewport

Thanks for letting me post.

I am using Autocad14 and am having a problem, as it is not my main application usually.

I cannot seem to edit anything within a viewport no matter what I do. The viewport window can be moved, thus moving the entities inside it, but I cannot edit anything inside. No entities are able to be highlighted or picked.

I have checked the layers and they are all unlocked and none seem to be frozen.

Can you suggest any helpful tips please??

This is a 2D drawing that is fairly simple.

8) You are in what is refered to as PAPERSPACE (tilemode) ... think of it a window looking into modelspace ... if you type in tilemode in the command prompt and change the value to 1, your screen will switch to modelspace...
If you type in mspace in the command prompt you will be inside the window (Viewport)
