WE R TRYING TO SEND SOME DWG.S TO ANOTHER COMPANY THAT IS RUNNING R14. IS THERE A SPECIFIC WAY THIS SHOULD BE DONE. WE ARE RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS WITH THE COMPUTERS LOCKING UP. IF ANYBODY CAN GIVE A GOOD PROCESS TO FOLLOW TO DO THIS I WOULD APPRCIATE IT. WE HAVE TRIED DOING MANY THINGS TO GET AROUND SOME OF THE PROBLEMS BUT I DON'T KNOW IF WHAT WE R DOING WRONG THANKS IN ADVANCED

The easiest way is to "save as" in R14 format. If 2002 can't do that then "save as" R12 DXF.

EXPLODED ALL BLOCKS. BUT WE CAN'T SEEM TO GET IT TO WORK. IS THIS A SERVER PROBLEM OR IS IT SOMETHING WITH THE DWG. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET PAST THE FREEZE UPS WOULD BE GREAT

I don't know this problem. Maybe the service pack would help, or a reinstallation...?

See if purging, auditing, and saving the drawings (as 2002) before saving back to r14 helps.

Some more information for you....(From the Autodesk website)

4. Do I need to have AutoCAD 2004 (or later) or AutoCAD LT 2004 (or later) installed on my computer to run the Autodesk Batch Drawing Converter?
Yes, the Autodesk Batch Drawing Converter does require an AutoCAD 2004 (or later)–based product or AutoCAD LT 2004 (or later) installed on your computer.
5. Is there an Autodesk Batch Drawing Converter available that works with previous versions of AutoCAD?
Yes. Visit Data & Downloads or "Click This LINK" (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2525863&linkID=2475161) in the AutoCAD product center, select Utilities & Drivers, and browse the page for AutoCAD Migration Assistance under the AutoCAD version you need.

I know this might be going over the basics but

try these steps

1. Save drawing with a temp file name to your C: drive (just so you dont lose any info)
2. Bind any Xrefs in (use bind option)
3. Purge out any un-neccessary info
4. Audit drawing
5. Save drawing again
6. DO NOT EXPLODE ANY BLOCKS XREFS (as these increase file size)
7. Now try saving file as R14 drawing.

By the way what size is the drawing anyway. large files anything over 8 MB seem to have problems converting (this is the largest i have managed to convert)

Try this and let me know how you get on

king....: Good point about exploding blocks. Will never understand why some users think this helps. :o
