I AM HAVING A PROBLEM, I HAVE ONE AUTOCAD DWG. THAT WHEN EVER I WORK IN IT, IT COMPLETLY FREEZES UP MY COMPUTER. NO OTHER DWG. DOES THIS. I HAVE ERASED EVERYTHING POSSIBLE, PURGED IT, RAN AN AUDIT, CREATED A NEW DWG. AND COPIED IT, BUT IT STILL FREEZES UP AND VERY EASY COMMANDS LIKE LINE, OR ROTATE. THE DWG. IS RELATIVLY SMALL 2.02 MB. ALL IT IS ARE INTERIOR ELEVATIONS. I WORK IN MORE COMPLEX BIGGER DWGS. ALL DAY WITH OUT TO MANY PROBLEMS ( WELL THATS A WHOLE DIFFERENT ?). CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME ANY IDEAS OR THINGS TO DO TO FOR THIS I WOULD GREATLY APPRICATE IT.

Try saving it to DXF AutoCAD release 12.
Then exit AutoCAD without saving it to AutoCAD 2002.

Re-open AutoCAD and open your file again. Now save it as 2002.
See if that clears up the problem.

Hope that helps.

8) Another option is to WBLOCK out the contents of your drawing...this will create a new drawing that you can open and check...if everything in this file is OK, simply saveas over the original.

I do this quite offen as it clears most issues out of the drawing.

Do these little workarounds myself, mostly successful. Most of the time I just WBLOCK it out to a new file.

The aggravating thing is that no one seems to know WHY this works. Not that it matters that much but it would be interesting if we could better understand the workings of this confounded program! :x

WBLOCK or wrtieblock ... forces the recreation of the objects in the new file, inturn this purges the object of any corruption and becasue the file itself is new no currption is transfered, which can happen during inserts or xref binding.

That is my assumption :!:

Of Course! Why didn't I think of that! I know better, too.

Thanks,

The "saveas" to a DXF-12 also ... forces AutoCAD to re-create the vector elements.

I'm guessing too. :?:

Interesting.....didn't know that but as I recall, I used to use saveas to create another file but not to dxf. :?
