How do I a Part section that as been scaled up for clarity? i.e. a .02" long line scaled up to .200" but still dimensioned as .02".

I'm late on this one ...

But I'm wondering if you're using "paper space" ..

That should allow you to do what you want.

 WOW...I missed this one too...but yes
Use paperspace to achieve this...

If you're unsure on how to do this don't hesitate to ask us. 8)

Are you two gurus suggesting that be dimension in paperspace or what?

The trick to obtaining the correct dimension display value lies in changing the scale factor that AutoCad uses to mutiply the measured object length when dimensioning.
If you have multiple viewports displaying objects at different viewport scale factors, your choices are to place dimensions in paper space (with dimension styles defined to "scale to paper space")

OR

dimension in model space with a separate dimension style defined to display the proper value (and text height) in each view port.

If R14, you don't have associative dimensioning features that "follow" established dimension endpoints so paper space dimensioning is more of a hassle than in versions like 2002.

When I worked in R14, I placed my dimensions in model space, with a dimension style define for each viewport scale factor AND placed on separate layers so that if dimensions in one scale factor overlapped another, the layer with the unwanted dimensions can be frozen be frozen in selected viewports. Fun, ain't it?

Hope this helps rather than confuse...... :o

... just like you would have multiple dimstyles in model space you can have multiple spaces in paper space ....

Instead of changing the "overall scale" for MODEL space dims ....
You change the "scale factor" for PAPER space dims .....

Huh? "mulitiple spaces in paper space"? You lost me, sport.

Without getting into details, I have witnessed raging discussions on the Autodesk forums regarding where to place dimensions. Bottom line is that each must do it the way they understand it best. I simply don't care one way or the other. I was simply describing an alternative, that's all.

My personal preference (especially if using R14) is to dimension in model space using a dimstyle defined for each of a series of viewport scale factors. I move viewports around sometimes in composing sheets so eveything will fit and I prefer NOT to wrassle with a bunch of dimensions. I DO place detail and section references in paper space as well as the detail symbol but in my teeny mind, these are easier to manage.

Yeah, someone is going to say that's not the way to do it because they better understand (and use) a different way.

I use exactly the same rationale for the way I do it.

O.K. with y'all? :P
