I have been offered an AutoCad Release 14.01. Does anyone knows if this is a full version or an upgrade?

It should be a full realease. But if it's only a few files and a few megs then you have a patch or something to that effect. AutoCAD LT (lightweight) was around in those days, and it would be clearly maked if it were that.
What's Google have to say about 14.01?

Take it! What you will have is a copy of the last freebie offered by Autodesk.
I noticed when I installed it (over original 14) that something went a little smoother than before. You will need the data (s/n, cdkey, etc.) to install it just like an original version. Mine installed using the information for my original R14.

Thank you I will keep it. Do i need the authorization code in addition to the S/N and CD key to install and operate?

I think you will need the authorization code as well as the s/n and cdkey. If the copy is legal, the person giving it to you should supply it.
The case where it might not be legal is one where the person owning the R14.01 upgraded from that to a newer version. If used in this manner, I believe Autodesk disables the authorization code so trying to register it would not be wise. Again, check with your benefactor to get the details.
If the person giving it to you used it for upgrading, technically it can't be used anymore. Realistically, if you can get it running and don't blab it around, the cad police will probably never show up at your door.
Just so you know what the possibilities are.
