In MicroStation ... (not that I'm a big fan but ...) you have the ability to model entire city as solids mass. (AutoCAD too!) And in MicroStation, you have the ability to clip your view plane back and front.
So for example .....
I could model 10 square city blocks but then I can fix my model view to only show the middle blocks. This way I can detial the facade of a specific building in the middle of so many buildings ... like many cities have ....
Right now in AutoCAD ... the best way to do this is to use the camara command .... but this leaves the perspective view on and then the lens angle becomes and issue when zooming in .....
In MicroStation, you can clip the view and still remain with ortho shapes .... almost as though shutting off the layer to those multiple building in AutoCAD.
But whose going to make multiple layers for each building?
I guess you can go thru those efforts for one building ... but what if I wish to detail another building in a different section of the city .... Now I need to re-layer the other buildings .....
I rather have to 2 clicks .... back and front .... done!
