I have just started life as a keen autocad drafter and would appreciate
some advice.
What is the best way to send a dwg. file from Autocad Lt to a client
who has no Autocad so they can view it and possibly zoom in and out
on the drawing to view it. Ideally it would be good if the client could only
view it and not modify the drawing in anyway.
THanks.

I generally make PDF files if I need to send a drawing to someone with either a different version of autoCAD than myself or no autoCAD at all.
welcome!

So the reciever with average internet skills does not have to download
any software to view the converted DWF or PDF files. How do they view them. Is it easy to convert DWG files to DWF or PDF files.
Much,Much Appreciated
P.S. This site is great!!

for the PDF files, the recipient will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat reader (Free)
for DWF files, the recipient will need a copy of the Autodesk viewer (free from here (http://www.autodesk.co.uk/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=452932&id=4454366))
It's an easier process to create DWF files as opposed to PDF files

As Dreibelbis & Hendie mentioned PDFs ... here's a link to some free PDF converters.

But this does require you end user to download a viewer.

The DWF option requires your End User to download a viewer as well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
But there are DWG viewres available too!
See below.
But if you wish to bypass the downloading .. of any software ....
Then just plot your DWG to an image format.
This may require you make an image plotter on your end.
Use the plotter wizard in AutoCAD to make the image plotter, then plot to it ...
Or you may use the FILE pull down and "publics to WEB" .... and make a JPG.
Just about everyone's machine should have an image viewer on their machine.
Open you image file to verify if you're happy with the resolution ... before sending it.
If you're unhappy with it, you'll have to go with the other options above.
8) The DWF format has the added advantage of the user being able to zoom/pan and control layers...the will need to download the DWF Viewer
To download the DWF viewer click on the following link
