File browser slow [Archive] - AutoCAD Everything

Autocad LT - 2004 on Windows XP

Anyone know why the file browser is so slow from Autocad?
My Docs browses OK from within Windows, but try it from FILE OPEN within Autocad and it takes an age.

Could it be the DWG viewer associated w/ the file browser?
Not sure if LT has this but if so, then your video card might need upgrading ... :?

A stab in the dark because I have know idea!

When windows browser is opening your docs directory it is not trying to preview the drawings.

When AutoCAD opens the drawings I think it may also read the data attached as it previews the drawings in a little window.

I'm sure you can turn this preview function off but whether that is real reason or something I just made up because it sounded good I've know idea. seems reasonable though, Try it and see!
