yes, here's MS tech illiterate.........with a question that I'm sure will sound silly to y'all........

I received some drawings today from an architect that has about 5 others xref'd into it. that's fine, BUT, I only need the site plan as it's changed, none of the other drawings have. I went ahead, rescaled the stupid thing, changed the path to show the new site plan, but all of my other xrefs suddenly disappeared! :?: I thought they would come up orphaned, not found, something along those lines, then I could repath the rest of my xrefs. :evil: where the heck did the remaining ones go????? I tried reattaching everything, then it was all jacked up! xrefs in the wrong spots, rotated around, WRONG SCALE........AUGH!!!!!!!!! ok, so I tried to just go back, detach, insert again & tried to start over, got frustrated & just freaking deleted everything! any ideas out there???????? what would be causing all of my xrefs to just go away when I only changed one????????? (yes, I did recopy the drawings so I have them again.......)

where the xrefs attached or overlayed ?
It's possible that if the xrefs that disappeared were attached to the main and you attached that one then the reapthing may have lost all of them.

Try overlaying each xref instead.

I think Eddie's right.

The file you replaced might have had the OTHER XREFs "attached" .....
In other words, the one site plan ... was the link to other XREFs ....

BUT....

You replaced it with another siteplan ....
So your NEW site plan might not have linked those other XREFs ... like the original siteplan ....

thanks to you both! ::thumbs : I didn't see your answers until this morning - I think I was just too tired to think last night. I did get the paths straight!!!!!!! my other xrefs were attached to this new layout - like you both said, so I just redid those new ones within the new site plan to match what I originally had & WALA!!!!!!!!! I had the correct site this morning with all my xrefs!!!!!!!!! wooooooo hoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! good thing, because I guess it's going to the city today.......YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!
