I am trying to install AutoCAD 2000 on my PC. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and receive the following message when trying to install:

16 bit Windows Subsystem
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

I have turned off my A/V protection, firewalls and changed the compatibility mode to Win98 when attempting to install software.
Still receiving error message.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

16 bit subsystem???... Well I still wouldn't run the 98 compatibility mode. Even R14 works fine on XP Home.

I'm not really sure what's going on there but...
See if this helps you out.
