View Full Version : Annoying Deselection of Items When I Zoom.

I'm using Autocad 2000 and am woking on a fairly large drawing. If I select a group of objects to do someting to, mirror, copy, etc., and while still in the command, zoom in or out to grab more items, the previously selected items are no longer selected. I cant view the entire group of objects while doing the command because I'd be zoomed out too far and wont be able to see what I'm grabbing.
This is annoying as hell.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Check to see if your PICKADD variable is set to 1. If it's set to 0, that's what's messing up your selection.
It can accidentally be changed in the modify properties window, it's the button at the very top on the left. If you see a number 1, you're set up for some heart ache.
Hopefully that's all it is, if not let us know.

Klugy,
do You use the mouse wheel for paning and zooming?
I don't use the Zoom toolbox.

Are you using transparent mode to zoom in and out?
Sometime when you're not in a rush....
Pick some objects in a drawing.
Not sure you got them all?
From the keyboard, type -z, then window a small area in locale where you picked the previous objects. If you're accurate, objects previously selected should be highlighted. Pick some more objects. If satisfied then:
Zoom out by typing -z <enter> p to get back to where you started.
All other things being equal, you should retain all obkects selected in both zoomz.
The transparent zoom and pan commands can really come in handy sometimes.

That seems to be it! It was set to 1 when I entered the command, switched it to 0, then back to 1 and all is well.....for now.
Thank you a lot for the info. :D

AutoDesk if you're listening I would just like to say 'Being able to change the PICKADD variable is the Worst.Idea.Ever... EVER!'

Well, nobody caught this in my post but transparent commands are preceded by a ' (apostrophe) , not a dash. Guess I was having a senior moment.
