I have received a bunch of drawings which were created in Acad 2002 and have GIF images attached to them. I am using Acad 2004 and it seems GIF is unsupported.

Any ideas how to solve it so that the GIF's appear on the drawings, other than converting the GIF's to another format??

Also does Acad2005 support GIF's?

Thanks....

As Far as I know 2004 does support .gif pictures. I treid importing a .gif into my version of 2004 and it worked fine, so I'm not sure why your pict's aren't showing up.

It could be that .dwg file you are trying to import has the .gif's only linked to the drawing and not embedded - so if the location of the .gif's has changed or if they don't exsit in a target location that you can point to, they won't show up.

You may already know about linking pict's - so if that's not the problem, then I'm stumped!

Thanks for your input. You are correct that the images are linked and not embedded, but the links are still 'good' but I am getting a message saying the gif is 'an unsupported format' in Acad 2004.

It's no big deal now as I have converted all the gifs to jpeg's and problem solved.

Thanks again ......

so out of curiosity I checked the help files in 2004 - nothing about .gif's being supported is shown. Under "Raster Images" all the other standard pict file format's are there .png; .jpg /.jpeg; bitmap; .tiff and so on... but no .gif ??

However, I able to veiw .gif's just fine - so I'm thinking it must be a graphic's setting somewhere. If I find out where - I'll post it here for the curious. 8)

Along with the DWGs that you have recieved ... have you recieved the JPGs???????

Without these files ... you will not see them at all.
Images are reference into AutoCAD not truly embedded into it ....
Hope that helps.
