Hi all

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

When trying to print a file in AutoCAD a rather large error message appears in a dialog box saying:

'you have at least one Windows System Printer configured for LPT1, so the HDI driver cannot open LPT1 directly. The output will be spooled through a system printer, which usually works fine. (We have tried to select a system prinetr that will not corrupt the output.) The HDI I/O port configuration will not, however, take effect. To allow direct output to LPT1, all System Printers configured to use LPT1 must be reconfigured not to use LPT1. The appearance of this dialog may be controlled in Tols/Options/Plotting.'

Any ideas folks? All posts welcome.
Cheers.

Mike

Just a guess but it sounds like that the printer dirver is configured to a specific printer port instead of to the default system printer or printers.

While this may work, it could cause conflicts if you and someone else send a job to the printer at the same time. Whoever's job gets their first will grab the port and if the printer configured for a specific port is second in line, the system may not know what to do with the printing request and abort it instead of placing it in a queue.

Assuming you're on a network? If so, your IT person may want to look in to reconfiguring the driver. Do you have multiple printers? Multiple printer ports? There may be some other issues to resolve if so.

Hope this helps.... :)
