Quick question. I saw a demo of inventor 9 where changing the dimension of an object, dynamicaly changed the object itself. I was told that inventor uses parametric solids - (meaning the parameters can be changed at any time).

Can AutoCAD use parametric solids as well ?

What is the difference between AutoCAD solids and inventor's ?

Autocads solids are "dumb" meaning they are not parametric
It is possible to make them parametric but involves a lot of coding and isn't really worth the effort. that's why they charge the extra bucks for Inventor etc

There are other programs other than Autocad which are parametric and are a LOT CHEAPER than Autocad. It all depends upon what you want to do.

You can also run a program called AutoSolids which converts AutoCAD to fully parametric.
It's absolutely brilliant (I have no connection to them...just a satisfied customer).
