Hi everyone
I am working with a new PC with XP Pro Service Pack2 512 RAM and 120 GB HDD. I installed Autocad 2004 and it keeps crashing out when in the middle of doing various tasks. Now the original drawing was created in version 14. Any other drawing is fine.
Can anyone help with this? :?

can't say for certain but I've heard LOTS OF BAD THINGS about SP2 ~so much so that I am reluctant to install it on my PC.
I run XP w/SP1 & Acad 2004 and don't have any problems

from your post it seems the trouble is drawing specific ~ have you tried Recover / Audit / wblocking to a new file ?

I hope this applies...

I recently upgraded from R14 to 2005 and ran into similar problems. What happened to us is that R14 had a bunch of “trash” in the drawings (like layers without names) and it was causing a ton of 2005 crashes. We downloaded/installed the Batch Drawing Converter (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=4091676&linkID=2475161) from AutoDesk and that seems to take care of a lot of problems.

If your drawings are already in 2004 format, try running audits and purges.

A word of caution; I experienced that if a drawing had layer's without names I must delete those layers through Layer Manager, because AutoCAD will crash if you try to purge.
