When I recently was faced with the task of changing the layer of several hatch objects with associativity, I reverted to my old habit of using the CHPROP command.

Tried one and it worked fine.

Then I thought I could speed up the process by using matchprop. The layer changed O.K. but hatch associativity was removed (didn't want that!). Tried grips and properties command; same result as matchprop.

Can anyone offer a clue as to why the "old" command still works but newer, faster options don't? One responder on another forum suggested looking at the "Settings" options in matchprop which I did but there seem to be no options for retaining or removing hatch associativity.

Thanks for any forthcoming responses.

Follow-up to my post (that no one replied to, BTW).

Posted it in AutoCad forums and as usual, everyone implied I was at fault.

Turned out that the pattern "gravel" in '02 seems to have some anamolies associated with it. It was the only one I found that had the problem I described in the previous post.

Don't know why...all other hatch patterns do not lose their boundary associativity when using any of the commands.

8) Can you post a copy of the hatch pattern file so I can have a play with it....

Eddie: It was the hatch pattern that (I think) came bundled with AutoCad 2002. Advise if this is not the case and I will extract and forward.

I had another gravel pattern that I glommed on to that I used in R14 but I don't know if it was the same one....never checked the coding.

'Later

Eddie: Attached is the hatch pattern. I extracted it directly from the Acad.pat file that came with 2002.
