View Full Version : Attached line when trying to copy?

I have a vertical line attached to a horizontal line like L.
I want to copy the vertical line multiple times at points along the horizontal
line. I have:
clicked on the copy icon, picked the vertical line, pressed enter, typed m, pressed enter again, typed in my first distance to the right. But a line attaches itself to the vertical line and the copied line and it can be moved up or down?
I have just started an Introduction to Autocad 2004 evening class and this didn't happen at the class. Have got something switched on or set that shouldn't be?
Autocad 2004
Any help please?

Hi Mansy Alcadzaz (crossposter http://www.smiliemania.de/smilie.php?smile_ID=30 )
1. click on the copy icon
2. pick the vertical line <enter>
3. type m <enter>
4. click the base point for copying
5a. type in Your first distance to the right: @1,0 etc.
5b. show Your copy-directin with the mouse, and type the first distance...
HTH, best regards, Lothar

What happened? Has the ARRAY command been made obsolete????

VCD: What has elitism got to do with using array instead of copy here, copy here x2, copy here x3......???? Just curious how you made this transition....

Oh I’m sorry; I just assumed that I was free to make my own flippant comments with disregard to others feelings, too. I didn’t expect anyone to say anything back to me either. Well isn’t this embarrassing. I suppose I should delete my old post.

I personally prefer the array command to the multiple copy if copying the same thing on either a horizontal or vertical axis with the same distance in between..........but that's just me. less thinking for me........as y'all know, I'm very technologically illiterate, so the easier, the better for me. just my opinion.
I must have missed whatever verycivildrafter posted earlier.........
ciao!

Tit for tat, VCD. Next time you perceive me as being flippant, jump right in!
By the way, have you worked up the courage to load R14 and '05 on the same machine yet? Would like to know how that went?
Cheers!

Quite right, exxit. We elitists and our watchdogs got off the subject, didn't we?
I'm still confused about the "attached line" comment; isn't that a harmless manifestation of the dragmode feature?
Just wondering....

Oh, I don't know....something to do with being able to see or NOT see objects as they are being dragged from one location on the drawing to another....
What's the cat's name?

The install went just fine, thanks. They don't seem to interfere with each other at all. I did have a little trouble with an old plotter, however.
Incase anyone is wondering Land Desktop automatically updates old Softdesk project databases.

Sounds like you have a "grouped" set of lines.
It could be your 2 lines (that make the "L") are 1 "pline".
"Explode" the "L" shape line.
Now do the multiple copy.
Also the up&down movement is controled but the "ORTHO" mode.
Hit "F8" to toggle it off.
:D :P
I hope I understood the question. :?:
Later.

8) Just to add to the confusion...another option....hehehe
You caould have the Horiz line as block and add that block to the other line using the POINT/MEASURE feature that is part of the points.
Goto DRAW-->POINT-->DIVIDE or MEASURE and after selecting the your line, choose block as the option, then enter the block name and it will be copied along the line.
You also have the option to rotate the block in the process...
Have fun with it.
Regards,
Eddie.

Drei: Look up dragmode in the on-line help files; they can explain it better than I could.
30 lbs is too much weight for a cat!
