Heh, I like that last one.. I'm absolutely sick as a chip now. (Uk expression)
I've just drove back from my ladyfriends house after spending my lunchbreak there, only to be greeted head on by a muckle of a stone chucked up by some dirty great lorry. I now have a crack in my windscreen thats about the size of a rottweiler's head and I'm skint till payday.. What a nightmare. I feel like ramming the next car I see off the road.. But of course that's just mean so I'll go and kick my next door neighnour's dog instead!

here are my answers from the midwest part of the states.........
lager - don't know, don't drink beer
loaf of bread - approx $2.00 OUCH!
20 cigarettes - again, don't know, don't smoke
mens magazine - uh.......well, I can tell you that most women's mags run about $5.00 around here..........I don't buy but maybe 1 a year
gas - about $1.90/gal
ok, I don't think that what a woman costs is quite right.........it seems to me that we cost more like 6 months salary!!!!!!! not that my ex-husband ever spent that much on me...........the entire time we were together!!!!!!!!!!

Nah you'll get none from me. I'm just peeved that we english invented a language, yet every other country that claims to speak it has no idea how to. (Now that should start the arguments!)

ok, I can be quite blonde, soooooooo...........since you think we have it cheap over here, what's 89p per litre add up to in USD???????
BTW, I saw that it's gone down on the IOWA side of the river this morning........to $1.73/gal. I live on the NEBRASKA side of the river, & it's still $1.85/gal there. (the river being the MISSOURI river)

I was working in London for a week about 2 months back.. It was a nightmare. Thank God it was on expenses.
But also the average wage for an 18 yr old office worker in Newcastle is £9000pa.. Pretty poor I think you'll agree. Down south is where the money is at.. The North are the poor down trodden ones! lol (Sympathy plea!)

ok, the house that I USED to own with my flaming-****-freak ex-husband was like this........
built in 1925, original woodwork, 1500 sq ft, kept in great shape, but in a neighborhood that's started to go downhill - we paid $55,000 for it, appraised at $70,000. most houses in the city I live in run upwards of $200,000 for a newly constructed home.

The house I share with my parents is a 3 bedroom terraced house in a reasonable (heh heh) neighbourhood. (I live near the 'meadowell' in 'North Shields'.. put those together with the word 'riot' into a search engine!).
My house is Edwardian. (about 80-90 years old i think) and is worth about £160,000. No land with it.. but i do get a street to store my car and a back yard to leave junk in!

 $900,000?????????????????? holy buckets!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I am pretty lucky to live where I live, then. over in the big city of Omaha (yeah, well, big for Nebraska), houses out in the western side of the city start out about that much, BUT, they're generally upwards of 5,000 sq ft!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! at this point in my life, I just don't see spending close to $1mill for a house for myself, granted, it is just myself & my son, but still!!!!!!!!!!!
you sure floored me on that one, CADMAN!!!!!!!!!!!
oh yeah - GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
later!

Hey CADMAN if your looking to adopt, I'd be willing to relocate. If you pay my moving expenses of course. I can feed, clean, and dress myself and I'm great at yard work.

The area is good in comparison to other parts of the country I guess but nothing special really. Still 40/50 miles from London. The UK has very strict rules on new house builds and you can't just throw up a 5000sqft house on a piece of land you choose to buy. A new 5 bedroom house (3500 SqFt) in the area is easily £800,000 / $1.5m, thats pretty normal in the south-east.
With regard to adopting....you wouldn't want to move here, its cold!

... I never really did too well in the sun anyhow. The last time I actually sunbathed I convinced myself that sunblock was for cissies.
One 20 minute nap later and I was looking a bit embarrassed. Except the redness wasn't caused by blushing.
Since then I've been more of a shade person.
