Does anyone know if it is possible to save an 8-1/2 x 11 drawing to scale in MS Word or Excel? I cannot afford Adobe, so that's not an option. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Following Yossa's logic ... other image fles are available.
TIFF
JPG
PNG
etc....
Which can be done from AutoCAD.
I believe under the file pull-down .... there's ....
"Publish to WEB ... somethin', somethin' ..."
As for the PDF issue, there are free 8.5"by11" ... 11"by17" ... PDF writers out there. 8)

One little thing to add to using WMFOUT: Exporting to WMF brings whatever screen background is being used with it. There's a setting in 2x versions to get around white on black (I can't remember what it is) so you don't have to remember to change to a white background before exporting.
Also, before exporting to WMF, you should consider beefing up your line weights a little. Very thin lines and/or some colored lines don't make the trip very well.

YosSa: Fine, IF he has access to Coreldraw....
Windowsxp5: Good tip....Think I'll look into that myself...I have numerous page size drawings I'd rather put out in something other than DWG format.

Wow!! You guys are a lot of help. When I have free time at home, I will figure out how to save the AutoCAD Drawing in one of the formats suggested.
Thank You, :D
