View Full Version : Basic Diameter-Radius Dimension positioning

I am creating diameter and/or radius dimensions and it seems the only angle the leader to the circle and/or radius is the original angle where I place the text (ie. when I try to re-position the dimension somewhere else around the circle it only allows the original position (further or closer to the circle) or a position 180 degees out. How do I override this unpleasantness so that I can position the dimension anywhere around the circle or arc.

Also, can anyone help with aligning ordinate dimensions so that they align with each other. This is very simple in other CAD programs but seems like it may take more work in AutoCad.

Not sure if i follow but have you tried ....

[type] ddim
[enter key]
highlight the "DIM" style you're using on the left side
click modify on the right side
click the "FIT" tab
go down to "Text Placement"
and choose "..... without a leader ...."

This option should allow you to place the text whereever you want.

Hopefully that helps.
Sorry in advance if it doesn't...
