We are having a discussion about the installation of Building Systems 2005, and what is necessary to get everything working.
Our 'CAD Manager' is insisting that the USER (not just the IT guys) needs to have FULL admin rights to their machine to they can install and open it up to complete the process. Is this right?
I have trouble believing that the USER on the machine needs to have FULL admin rights provided, then the install is performed, then the USER opens ABS2005 to complete the install, then take away the USER's FULL admin rights...

Yes, It's true! :?
The responses you got on other forum were true. :?
Sorry for the news.
............. Well .... let me explain ......
Profiles ... well in Windows they called them "POLICIES".
These "policies" are made for different users.
There's the ADIMN POLICY.
There's the POWER USER POLICY.
There's the REGULAR USER POLICY - LEVEL 1.
There's the REGULAR USER POLICY - LEVEL 2.
There's the REGULAR USER POLICY - LEVEL 3. .... So on and so on.
Under these policies ... certain "RIGHTS" are added.
One of these might be the -
-settings to the desktop where you set the Marque
-access to the registry ... yes or NO, no inbetween. this controls whether or not you can install programs
-access to the hard drive. This controls whether or not you can save to the C drive or not, which may effect your use to certain programs, which require to write temp files to the C drive while the program is running.
Anyway ... to make a long story short.
Your admin might have the policy set for you & others as non-admin users to your machine which may mean "NO ACCESS TO THE REGISTY".
However, he/ she can limit the access to small installtions pending the amount of stuff a program writes to ... when installing.
Or he/ she lift the block until it is installed and then re-block your access ... all remotely from his/ her office.
HTH.

Thanks! I don't know what our team will be doing, but no one is getting rights to their machines. Too many peons that want to use every program available from Zeropaid.com to trust anyone with it.
