am an electrical contractor. do a lot of design build contractin with elec enineers I have been ditzin around with everyones auto cadd for 10 years.. Its to big/cumbersome/complicated for me. ( drafting propoasals just one of muti jobs..... best case scenario would be a sub program autocadd that i could download engineered drawings,place my customers electrical requirements on building foorprint and then resubmit same to engineers. Am i blue sky or what .. Thought someone who is profiient might help. if not this what is alt. do I buy or what.

I hope I understood your question .... here it goes.

No, there is no "free" saftware you can download that would be compatiable w/ AutoCAD.

However, I believe you can buy "TurboCAD" for few bucks ... $$$
And that is compatiable to AutoCAD.

But I'm not sure how patient you are to draft it in "turboCAD". I'm getting the feeling that you want to click in 2 places and be done. And that ain't gonna happen.

So you might just have to sub-contract the work to some "CAD-jocky" who will draft what you want w/ their version of AutoCAD.
