I have ACAD 2000 that has began hanging on saves... I have all service packs applied that are available. Windows XP Pro is completely updated. Not running in compatability mode. We also run ACAD14 w/ Softdesk 8. I am experiencing problems there also, but that's another story. Could going between the 2 programs be causing this? I thought it was in my network here, but I have had that tested & no problems... I also suspected it was something here @ work, but last evening it started on my home PC as I was working. Now I am almost sure that it has to be something in the drawings and what is being passed back & fourth between the programs. It starts right after you add more than 1 xref or if you start drawing ductwork in 14 & go to 2000 to print or setup a viewport to plot...
Any Ideas? I've read everything in the ACAD 14 section concerning Softdesk freezing...
Thanks

cadguy,
AutoCAD 2000 did have problems saving across a network. However, the company I was with at the time, upgraded to 2000i and the problems went away - so if you can, upgrade to 2000i.
If that's not possible, you'll need to run a recover on your drawing files - including the XREFS. One thing with the 2000, 2000i, was when Xrefs were corrupt, AutoCAD just hung, now in later versions it tries to tell you if it found a corrupt drawing.

cadguy,
There could be some more bad news here, AutoCAD 2000 products are not supported on Windows 2000, much less Windows XP. You may wind up reinstalling NT to resolve your problem.

Well, good news & bad news... bad news, problem still there w/ ACAD 2000. It is weird, because it just started out of the blue and I have been running it under XP since it started shipping on new Dell's. The good news is that someone finally got off the pot and approved ACAD 2005 building systems. Now I have to learn a completely new system, but I guess it will be worth it.
Thanks
