When I try to type in co-ordinates at the command line, they always meet at the pickbox/crosshairs which I don't want to happen. The pickbox/crosshair is always shown in the drawing area. Is there any way to dock the pickbox/crosshair so that the command co-ordinates are followed out and not determind by the pickbox/crosshairs.

Using Autocad Lt 2002. As you,ve probably gathered I'm new to autocad and starting out.

Any help please?

Many thanks

8) Sorry you lost me abit there.....lets try an example......
command - line
autocad prompt - pick start point....you enter....1500,2500,0...(x,y,z)..then press enter....
autocad prompt - next point of line...you enter.....3500,2750,0...press enter.

What you should see is a line start from the co-ords specified first and finish at the next co-ords......UNLESS you have picked the first point on screen, then it would appear to come from the location of the crosshair....

Is this correct :?: :?:

Hi

From an autocad book I typed in 0,0, then pressed at enter at the command line and the points or co-ordinates joined up with the crosshairs/pickbox. The was dealing with absolute co-ordinates and is called Autocad LT 2002 in easy steps.

Am I picking it up wrong, or doing it wrong?

8) What you are doing is correct..just type the next co-ords or pick the point onscreen...it's your choice..
We can organise a chat session here if you would like to ask more queries.

Set OSNAPCOORD to 1 to over-ride object snap settings.

CarlB: This guy should be convinced....he got the same answer on two forums.

By the way, could this also be achieved by clearing all Osnaps? Just wondering....

CSI: The way I understand it works....yes, clearing all osnaps would also prevent coordinate entry from snapping anywhere other than than the supplied coordinates.

CarlB: Thanks for the affirmation. Like everything else in AutoCad, there are several ways to do the same thing.

Since I don't like a software program "thinking" for me, one of the first things I do when I open a drawing from another source is clear the Osnaps. Having Osnaps preselected can be particularly annoying when working in a tight space.
