CAN ANYONE HELP ME CREATE LOT AREA TABLES USING R14 & SOFTDESK 8? I JUST FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME WAY TO LINK TO DATA BASE AND CREATE AN AREA TABLE MUCH LIKE A CURVE TABLE OR A LINE TABLE. PLEASE DON'T THINK I'M A DUMMY BUT I AM WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTERS AND I REALLY DON'T HAVE PATIENCE ENOUGH TO FIGURE IT OUT ON MY OWN. PLEASE HELP!! AND CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A TUTORIAL AID FOR CONVERTING OVER FROM R14 TO 2000 OR 2004? I'M KINDA ON MY OWN AND NEED A LOT OF HELP. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR READING AND TRYING TO HELP! HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Hi "Trena" :P
Welcome to the Board.
There are no stupid questions here.
Quick response to your part B question.
There is no need to convert 14 to higher versions of AutoCAD.
AutoCAD 2000/ 2000i/ 2002/ 2004 ... and 20005 .... all can open r14 just fine.
As for the link ... let me brainstorm and search ....
Maybe someone here might beat me to the punch and answer it before me.
Talk to you later. ::Beer::

Sorry Trena,
I tried to find something for ya'.
The best I found was to try and use the schedule module built into S8.
Go to pull-down menu selection [ArchTools>Schedules ....]
And try to use one of those. Maybe the one about finishes might work.
That one I believe links square footages to room witha specific shape drawn in each room. :?
Aside from that ...
I would seem you would need a custom LISP routine to be made.
Maybe some one else can "chime in here" and help.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS AFRAID OF (HAVING TO HAVE A CUSTOM LISP). BUT THANKS FOR TRYING. I'LL GIVE YOUR OTHER SUGGESTION A TRY. I'M IN THE SURVEYING FIELD AND MAYBE I CAN FIND A SIMILAR COMMAND. THANKS AGAIN.

:| Hey now, make love not war!
Have you tried using the "Lots" pull down in the "Design" menu?
If you have created “lots” then you can export their information with (module) Design "Lots"-->“Edit Lots”. Select all the “lots” you need areas from and export their information to a .prn file. Then extract the areas from the new file with a document editor.
Its kind of a long way of going about it, but so is everything with SoftDesk 8.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I HAVE USED THE "LOTS" EDIT COMMAND WHEN LABELING LOT SIZES DIRECTLY ON THE LOT BUT I HAVE NEVER TRIED TO MAKE A .PRN FILE. AS LONG AS I CAN PUT IT INTO TABLE FORM THAT WILL BE AWESOME. THANKS AGAIN.
AND P.S. I'M NORMALLY NOT SO "MEAN", REALLY I AM NICE, I SWEAR.

Your welcome. Actually, thank you for asking a question that I could answer. Usually, these guy's pretty much answer all the questions before I even log in. I'm stuck using AutoCAD14 and Softdesk 8, too :?. So I get to answer questions about R14 or Softdesk 8 once in a while. :P
:D By the way, welcome to the board

I AM SO GLAD TO FINALLY FIND SOMEONE OTHER THAN OUR COMPANY THAT USES R14 & S8. NORMALLY NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA OF WHAT I AM SPEAKING. NOW MAYBE YOU MIGHT KNOW THIS, ARE YOU GUYS MOVING UP TO 2000-2005 ANY TIME SOON? WE ARE BUT WE ARE TRYING TO HOLD OFF BECAUSE WE ARE SO BUSY AND THE TRAINING TIME IS GOING TO KILL US BECAUSE WE HAVE NO ONE IN THE OFFICE THAT IS PROFICIENT AT IT. SO DO YOU KNOW OF ANY TUTORIAL THAT I MIGHT PURCHASE THAT MIGHT MAKE THE SWITCH ANY EASIER? I'VE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE COME UP WITH SOME BOOK AND SOME CDS BUT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT PURCHASING UNTIL I ATLEAST LOOK AT THEM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD HELP ME BECAUSE AS I STATED EARLIER, I AM A DUMMY WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTERS. I HAD A GREAT TEACHER AND UNFORTUNATELY HE HAS LEFT THE COMPANY. I AM LOST WITHOUT HIM.
NOW FOR MY NEXT QUESTION WHICH I DID PLACE IN THE 2000 FORUM BUT A FRIEND OF MINE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STRIPPING THE DATA FROM A LINE OR CURVE WHEN TRYING TO REDO A LINE TABLE. WE TRIED USING THE "STRIPXDATA" COMMAND BUT IT DOESN'T WORK. ANY IDEAS?
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

P.S. Yossa, I am sorry for calling you strange. I have just been informed that it meant I was shouting. Please forgive my ignorance. Caps is all that I use in my line of work which is surveying.
Have a great weekend.
