Here's an going debate... in every company i join that has ISO standards.. and has more than 20 offices...

They always have a set of cad standards... and even a macro or two - like pull down menus and/ or toolbars and templates...

but as always...
every office runs their standards....

Its not until office share a project that these issues become a debate....
Or if the macros the CAD committee made goes on the blink... that no one wants to manually do what's standard.... or claims ignorance...

This my 2nd large comapny I'm a part of ...
I know what i feel should be done... but i'd like to hear what you guys think...

Anyone...

Or am i just hearing "crickets".... :baby:

Man Archi, I would give ya advice on this but Look where it's gotten me! I'm the kind o guy that Does what I think is right and F the rest of them, but I'm sure that 's not a good plan for you in a big company. NO ONE LIKES A REBEL cept the GRLZ :)

Actually i would like to hear your words... LOL

The company I'm at has its own private forum... believe it or not...
And its funny to see the bickering over this issue....

So no matter waht anyone says here...
Its just to shoot the breeze...

The company has its own CAD committee that decides what happens...

anyway...
Just wanted to see if the same responses there are here... :)

I started this for our company & am about halfway through, but enough to publish to get the newbies going.

I wrote the draft & had a board of 6, including myself.

Basically I read the subject matter aloud, we pick it apart, correct it if need be & vote on it.

I started first with an outline & dreamt it up from there.

Yeah...
You and I and had some offline conversations on this...

But my question is....
When you have a set of standards and people dont follow it....

What then?
What fair to make it happen?
Its one thing to implement it with the current staff its another...
To maintain it with new employees...

I wrote as to not tie the hands of people doing it for thirty years.

It is intended mainly for the newcomers that don't know crap

Unfortunately....I will probably end up being the xref-nazi.

I'll just turn their @$$ into the engineering manager if they wanna be a jerks......
