Hello,

What is the minimum amount of users needed for the AutoCAD 2009 to be installed on a Server, and have the users access it over the Local Network?

They have bought three seats of AutoCAD 2009 right now and they are told that they need to purchase an additional two in order to enable the network functionality, is that so?

We need to move to a server/client setup, to avoid users' drawings being overwritten by other users, have check-in/check-out , revisions, etc.

Thanks

The million dollar question is; How many total people will ever be using autocad?

When I was looking to purchase licenses (+2 yeas ago), it was not at all worth the money to buy server licenses until we needed 15 licenses or more. We ended up buying +10 single seats and just use our server as a file server.

I vehemently recomend cost comparing single seat vs server seat if you don't have +15 users. You may be throwing money away.

thanks for your response

so how do you manage versions and check-in/check-out of files?

On my network we open files directly off the server, so (obviously) only one person can "edit" a drawing at a time. Everyone else can reference the drawing as an "xref" and "Overlay" it. That's pretty standard practice for many companies.

As for managing versions we all have the same version of AutoCAD.
