Landscape Architect over here. Don't know for how much longer though? I was very close to quitting today, after my boss decided to unload on me and vent his frustrations, which included a few choice four letter words. So I went back to my desk and composed myself, then I went back into his office and told him that I didn't appreciate what he said and I didn't deserve it. It was very rude and unprofessional and his behavior was just beyond unacceptable. I then went on to inform him that I will not tolerate his yelling and swearing anymore and if he ever speaks to me that way again, I'm gone. Everyone in the office has put up with his abusive personality for a very long time and I'm just done with it. One more time and I'm packing my bags. I deserve, and expect, to be treated better than that.
Sorry for derailing this thread. :boohoo:

Not my best moment in my career .... but worth mentioning in this thread...
I had just quit my job as a CAD manager in a NYC drafting service company... after 2 years... (1st job after graduating)
I was eager to get a real job in my field...
I was earning ... $15/hr...as a CAD manager.. and felt i deserved more... based on my CAD skills and position ...
I was wrong... LOL
Anyway... in my greed for money i join a temp agency... who hired me over the phone and prmised me $18/ hr to $25/ hr - depending on the client....
So my 1st job assignment.. i got $18/ hr and it was only for 2weeks....
waited 2 weeks at home before getting another assignment/ job....
I quickly had my doubts... about my career decision....
so i get the phone call to work another place... a 2week gig w/ possibly more time if I'm good...
so i took the job, with the arrogance i would be picked up for more work...
The boss i had at this place was bigger tool than me... :thspitcoffee:
This guy was a slave driver....
But i was getting $21/hr for the next 2 weeks thru the "Temp Agency"..
So i didnt care about his attitude... and he was only giving it to his permanent staff...
anyway.. my 2 weeks were up...
and i asked if he wanted to extend his contract with me...
This clown turns around and says.. " i like you kid, but if you want to stay you'll have to quit the agency so i can you pick up and NOT pay the finders fee.... and by the way... you'll get $12/hr with benefits..."
WOW... :banghead3 what an ego blow....
I said i would think about it... "let me sleep on it"...
I go home and call the agency and tell them i'm done...
when is the next assignment... they say in 3weeks...
:r_wtf: ... (I say to myself.. i need a steady job... this is bullsht)
so i go back to the jerk....
and try to haggle for more ... where he tells me that is a good rate since entry level guys get $10/hr...
so i bite the bullet and figure i collect here while i wait...
this guy is a jerk.... f' him...
so i sign my life away... and take the permanent job....
2 and half weeks go by and i get the call from the agency that the other place wants to see... tomorrow...
i get the call Wednesday morning... right before i go to work...
I say its about time...
what's the rate?
... $22/hr... for 6months...
Big smile... on my face...
I go in 10mins late w/out calling and get greif for it...
I tell 'em to step into the confrence rm... we need to talk..
he's surprised... and sits down...
and then tell 'em...
it aint working out...
i just got my 1st paycheck and it sucks...
i'm used to a higher lifestyle... so i'm quiting.... no hard feelings...
his mouth drops and as i walk out...
he yells where are you going... at least finish the week...
what about your time sheet....
i turn and say keep it... i wont miss it... this place isnt for me...
needless to say i was gambling on the fact that both previous places liked my work and this 3rd assignment would love me too...
not my best moment... but it felt good to drop that bumm and that job to the way-side.... :)

When I Was Real young a Friend of my Dad's hired me part time to do Inking and Leroy the summer before my Senior year of High School. Any how this old guy had a Bad Temper and was the perfect example of the Apprentice system. any how one day He Got all bent out of shape because I had Spellet somthin Wrong. any how he started yelling and throwing stuff, so I walked over to his board where he was Loading ammo from. And I opened up the tilt lock and Dumped his whole table. anyhow he Started SCREAMING "WHY the H did you do that?", My answer was "You Hired me to help you do what ever you were doing, so I was just helping you clear you Board", anyhow 20 years on and he's never had a Temper Tantrum at me since :)

Many years ago...I was working though an agency...and got a 3 week stint with Minenco, a subsidary of an American mining company...Comalco. Anyway...I finished what I was there to do...but weeks later I was still there. Turns out Minenco had another job coming up at their Weipa Bauxite mine...and they were happy with me....so decided to keep me on least they get someone they didn't want when the new job came up. Suited me.......
Anyway....time goes by and I finally leave Minenco and get a permanent position with a major Australian consultancy...and this consultancy has just gone into a joint venture with Minenco to go to Darwin (5 years later)......to build a township in the uranium mining region of the Northern Territory. So.....we all get sent to Darwin.......and buggar me......the Minenco troops are all in the same office with us.....this time I'm the boss.
Great times...we obviously all knew each other...and played up to suit.
Sometimes good things really do happen.

I worked with this smelly drunk guy who got fired.
He was called into the bosstards office and told he was "let go".
(He was wearing shorts because he had gotten tanked and poured boiling water all over himself..)
So he stands there and ****s.
Craps the bosstards floor. Rolls right out of his shorts and splat.. on the floor.
I was the "grunt" and my boss tried to make ME clean it up. I puked so hard that I had bloodshot eyes for a week.

That happened at my first cad job.
Today, yes, I'd clean it up and then throw it in his face.
After the guy left, his office had to be fumigated.
He had such a stench that it settled into the carpet and walls.
Almost like a pack of rotting skunks had died.
One morning the guy came in and was explaining his mark up to me and I got drunk off of his breath.
Anyone who gets a dui at 6 a.m. and then another in the same week has issues.

Hey...knock it off.....
In my younger days as a surveyor, I was the junior who had to go to the local sewage works to take levels on everything for monitoring purposes.
I puked everytime I walked in...the stench was unbelievable. And we wont even talk about the capture on the filter screens.
Reminds me of a mate of mine...he was an electrical engineer on a mining township. One day they had an electrical problem with the monitors at the sewage plant. So he was sent to check it out. Anyway...he wanted to get to the other side of the shed...so instead of walking around the outside on the path....he walked straight across what he thought was solid ground on top of the settling pond...well it does look a bit like solid concrete. So two steps in and down he goes.....into the........well you know. They hauled him out with gaffs (used for clearing )...and by the time they got him out the mining fire brigade was there and proceded to hose him down....from a safe distance.
Hence ever after his name was poo bear...god he hated that name.
