Properties window problem

When I choose/activate text from the drawing and then push properties button, the properties window doesn't show any values or details of the text. The same thing happends when choosing lines, circles, ect..
Any hints?

SELECTION--->NOUN/VERB SELECTION

Check this box to set the PICKFIRST variable to 1

Well, I tried everything, but nothing worked. But finally I solved the problem by installing Acad 2004...
