IF I recall, the only things you can do with a WMF is size it and crop it. IF you can find a program to convert the objects to vectors, then you can massage it.

Might try washing it first through Adobe Illustrator and see what you get.

I'm not sure about this but isn't a pdf file just a graphic like a picture or photo where as an AutoCAD drawing has mathimatical data attached to the entities. ie start and end points in x and y values etc..

I would be suprised if there were software available to take a 'picture' such as a pdf and apply mathimatical data to each of the entities so as to be able to manipulate it in say AutoCAD.

You would be able to edit a pdf in something like Microsoft paint if you save it as a jpg.

I know you can export a pdf from AutoCAD put removing the mathimatical data from a drawing to create a picture/graphic 'pdf' is alot easier.

To summarise isn't taking a pdf the same as trying to take a photograph or somthing and edit it in CAD! 'not do-able'

I really know very little about file formats, maybe somebody else could elaborate on this or tell me I'm talking rubbish. :?

Crofltd: You've got the right idea. AutoCad objects are based on vectors, Adobe images are also vectors so....we're talking apples to apples here. Coreldraw may also work to some extent. Depensing on the complexity of the drawing that was mentioned in the original question, it might be worht taking the time to redraw it.

WMF images can be edited while open in some Microsoft programs but options are extremely limited.

I believe that jpg images are pixel based so editing them is tough unless you use a program (don't know which one) that can put pixels where you want them.
