I'm doing a schematic for school project and is there any way I can add a "picture" or "drawing" of a component so I don't have to draw it? I've checked the component libraries that came with the software, but I can't find the ones I need. The components I need to add are:
74LS04
74LS30
74LS32
74LS74
74LS138
74LS244
74LS374
ADC0804
DAC0808
LF356
IT20 Interface Connector

Is there a library I can add so I can just drag and drop these components, or am I stuck drawing them from pictures on datasheets? Thank you for any help.

8) It is possible to find block libraries containg what you need, as to how detailed they are depends on whom created them.

But you can add and image to your drawing, but scaling it can be tricky.

to add the image :
From the insert menu chose Raster Image then in the dialog set the options you require.

Inertion Point : chose the location by filling in the values or pick the point on screen(best option)
Scale : specify the scale you require or determine it onscreen
Rotation : set the rotation value for the image.

hope this helps.

is there a place I can go to browse through some block libraries?

Some and maybe all of the chip profiles you list are available in several libraries on CADDEPOT.COM. Look under Autodesk\blocks. Don't recall the exact subcategory but they are there.

Be advised that most of these drawings were rendered in early versions of AutoCad (like R2.6, or 9 or 10).

I also may have these sorted out in my library. I'll take a look and post them if they match your list.

thank you very much. is there a way to search through the libraries offered, or is it just browse through, download and look at the actual pictures?

I am assuming the way these drawings are organized on the site were "as is" when they were received.

I downloaded and reorganized them and posted them back to the site but I'm not sure whether they ever got added the way I sent them.

I am attaching a ZIP file with DIP drawings in it. The package outlines are generic pin configurations so you'll have to select which one matches the profile of a particular 74-series chip you're trying to use. A bit of a hassle but better than trying to draw from scratch.

These drawings also include the internal logic schematics of certain chip packages. How about that?

Hope these help you speed up your project.

No problem; glad they were useful. I recall when I was downloading and reorganizing them "...what are these ever going to be good for?...." Now I know.

I'm a packrat and never throw anything away.

I also have some other related stuff, mostly schematics of discrete components that I repackaged at the same time. If you have a need, let me know.

Live long and prosper.
