Here's one that seems like a good idea.....
Especially when working over the network in a large firm .... with more than one floor...
or even in different offices....
Aside from picking up the phone or email....
Wouldn't it be faster and easier to have an icon in autoCAD to send an instant message to who ever to please update their MASTER XREF....
Or coordnitate design issues with "instant messaging"??????
Just a thought.... :p

architech: Don't you think the developers are having enough trouble getting things to run properly w/o adding some other gee-whiz feature. Don't know about you but I can instant message by simply clicking the icon on the bottom task bar.
Autocad 2008 has problems displaying the diameter symbol even though the font file is UNICODE/UNIFONT format. Their (hired) help desk admits its a bug. This might be a tad more important to solve than adding IM to the core program.

That'd be pretty cool functionality.
I pray that there'd only be a few preset messages though.
I'd hate to be getting messages along the lines of:
U Load Mtrs file k! I had 2 fix stlyz n dim
<3<3<3<3
(\ _ /)
(O.o)
(> <)
/_I_\
<3<3<3<3
Txt Bunny luvs U
ROFL :):p:D
Because then I'd have to kill myself.

Maybee should add an item here on the "WISH" list board....
All the bugs be fixed before adding anything on this "fantasy board.... :p
BTW...
All the BIG firms i work for are cutting down all communications with fello co-workers....
IM has been disbaled ...
So that's where the wish came from...
Most IT people don't know much about restricting parts of AutoCAD...
So in my little world...
I would have softwares i used rolled into AutoCAD....
But that's crazy talk....
So IM...
would be nice to have... for now...

They keep making ACAD better, that's why it gets screwed up so much.
It worked better when it was broken.
I hope they don't do that. Just download AIM
