Hi all,

As you would have noticed by now I have updated the look of the site. Please use this thread to voice your opinions so I can either tweak it, or replace it altogether! :o

Also we are renaming the site to 118CAD over the next few weeks, same great folks helping out here but a new name :drinks:

Cheers

David

Hey Eddie thanks for your feedback. The 118CAD is our new name which is more of a UK thing to be honest as we have taken the "118" concept of the UK telephone directory services which are used over here.

Hence why I'm not sure about the name, seeing as this site is accessed by an international user base...
I like the AutocadEverything name more..

Oh OK, I see your point. Whilst the idea does stem from the UK 118 services idea it is not reliant on people knowing what 118 is in the UK. I don't think it affects international users really. Whilst AutoCAD Everything is a nice name it is not particularly good for the future of the site as it uses Autodesk's trademark and also defines us only as an AutoCAD site which in future we may wish to expand away from.

I appreciate your comments, keep them coming!

I like the new look, but don't you think maybe there should be a little more contrast as far as the color scheme? It appears a bit washed out. That was my first thought when I saw the new design. Maybe just bump up the darker tones and the text a little? I like the light colors, easy on the eyes, but it just seems to all blend together. Just my 2 cents worth.

Yeah, was just about to say the same thing - love the color scheme, but it needs more of a contrasting color for the text - makes it a little easier on the eyes. But over all, it looks great!

So you were talking of expanding the concept of this web site - how 'bout a section dedicated to Inventor series?? might be an idea as everyone moves into this kind of software!

Name is fine BTW IMO. Hey didnt know you guys were Brits!! Hey good luck in the world cup - you'll need it, especially if us Aussies get a crack at you!! hehehhe

I have to agree that I don't like the name 118CAD.... :cartman:

And I hear you desire to expand.... :cup:

.... but how about .... CADEVERYTHING.com
Just knock off "AUTO" ..... since this was your roots into starting this site... :feedback:

IMHO....

As for the colors... hmmmmm :cartman:
A little washed out but .... adding some dark grey accents should still keep your blue theme and punch out the dialog boxes and all.... :drinks:

But I do like it when the place gets an facelift.... from time to time... :thumbs_up :D
Keeps it interesting.... :p

Excellent feedback guys, appreciate it.

Firstly in response to cad64. I have to admit I do agree and htis was my concern when we first put the design on here. I also feel that its a bit washy especially the actual text for posts.

In response to acadder, same response with reagrd the washy colours. In terms of expanding who knows where we will go but it will certainly be a decision made by everyone and not by me personally. It is you guys that keep the life in this site and so if we cannot support more than AutoCAD it won't happen. In terms of the World Cup, C'mon, are you serious???? lol England are going to beat Trinidad & Tobago today and go on to eclipse that Ashes win ;) I have to say I am a huge football/soccer fan but I didnt realise we had any other followers of football here?

In reponse to architech, great minds think alike! I had tried to get cadeverything.com a couple of years back and it was taken already :(

Anyway glad you all welcome change! I'll work on your ideas and hopefully we can get something which we all agree works. :)

:yikes:
What the..........
Um.......well, let's say this first - Tami needs to stop taking breaks from y'all! When it first came up 118CAD, I tried to load it again! I can deal with that, though. I'll just change my favorites dealy-bob. (118CAD is easier to type in!)

Color........uh......yeah, we have to do something about that! Too bland for me......NEED CONTRAST!!!!! :p I thought something was wrong with my monitor, then I went & looked at CAD, it looked ok, then I read some of the posts......yeah........lacking in the color dept.........but not bad overall.

From the curmudgeon in Wisconsin, USA: Color: YAWWNNNNN! Contrast: YAAWWNNNNN! Old eyes like mine have some problem distinguishing between text and background when there's not too much contrast. New Name: Too subtle.

Sure fire way to ensure that people with vison problems dont use your site: Change to dark green text on red background.

I would like to see emoticons on left-hand side a la caddepot (which I think uses the same browser package????; sure looks like this one!).

However, all is forgiven if you can convince the software to remember my login information.....

OK so we did beat trinidad, albeit not that convinsingly!

Not a bad idea on the name, I will check it out and sse if its still available :drinks:

csiarch, so are you saying the new colours are hard to see? That login issue is really buggin me but there is a new version of the software coming out shortly and I am hoping that will resolve the issue! :banghead3

You poms ... HA! win the ashes ... now that's funny :080402gud :D good luck on the Trinidad & Tobago game :)
