I've had to deal with setting up custom paper sizes in the plotter driver, then configuring the printable area/margins in 2000i. It wasn't fun, but I now have the hang of it.

Well, just when I thought we were home-free, *bang*...

another wierd problem that has me at a loss.

I did as stated above, configuring the custom paper size in the plotter's window driver, and then go into AutoCAD's PC3 configuration thingy, where I modify the printable area/margins.

The printable area is a good bit larger than the plot being sent, and the plot's orientation was landscape - to coincide with the printable area.

The external rectangle in the DWG file was snapped to, to define the printable area.

With all that said, the line @ the left-hand margin is not there. Gone.

It should be there. There sure is enough room for that print (34w x 22h) to come out unhindered (printable area = appx. 60w x 35h)

So, can anyone help me with this :?:

Well I know I've dealt with this before but... :? my memory sucks and I can't get to my v.2000 machine right now.

But a temporary (lame) fix (since your plot area is so big); window just a hair outside all of the line work.

This probably isn't your problem but, I do remember this happening to me on a border where some  nut case  had modified the left print line. They had moved ONLY the upper left corner by about .0000002 to the left. :x You couldn't see the problem with your eye, but the printer wouldn't print the line because it was actually outside of the print window. Heck, you might check your stuff just incase, you never know.

Sorry I'm not being much help. If I can get to my 2000 machine today I'll give you a better answer.

First of all, thanks for your reply :!:

Well, I left out the fact that, as you stated, I put a rectangle just a hair outside the rectangle, plotted the drawing (@1=1 in this case) and the plot came out perfect.

Unfortunately, users like things more simple than that... They actually want it fixed, go figure

We're pretty much aligned in thought, because I zoomed in on the lower-left corner of the DWG rectangle, just to make sure that the left-line wasn't something like 0.000002 incles inboard.

It wasn't.

soooo... with that said, This is another one of those AutoCADistic anomalies with which I have to deal.

Thanks again for your response, and if you can help when you have access to 2000, It would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Ted

I just had a quick thought; try setting your "paper width" to something closer to the true width of the plotter paper...

If you've already tried that then don't listen to me. Just wait for one of the moderators to show up and give you good advice.

I didn't try that. I guess I should, but if it worked I might flip out, because it would mean that the change from R14 to 2000 would require an even higher degree of micromanagement than even I envisioned.

I'll try it tomorrow, and thanks again for your help.

Hi Ted,
Have ya' tried doing the following .....

1:1 (for scale)
extents/ window (right to the border edge)

(all normal settings, above)

Now .... the trick ... if you want to call that ... :?
... somewhere near the box for "center" ... down at the bottom and to the right .... you should see the "x" and "y" settings ......

Leave "y" = 0
But "X" = .5 or 1

See if that helps.
Let me know.
