Hello,

This is my first time posting here. I wil try and give as much information as possible on my problem.

My client uses AutoCAD LT 2005 with service pack !. They are recieving .dwg files from an architect and making their changes. When they go to Plot, The system freezes up and gives them an error( They where not able to tell me what the error was). Then the machine shuts down. I spoke with the architect and they are using Vector Works 11.0.1. They said they have never had this problem while sending these files to anyone else.

Is there any reason why this would happen. do they need to upgrade to a full version of Autocad

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hmmm.... translated files... never a good idea to work with... especially when going back and forth between offices....

I would guess a block is the culprit.... and somewhere in the transltion ... its not clear.... hence the corruption in the file when plotting...

I would WBLOCK the file out of AutoCAD LT ... 1st....
And open the WBLOCK DWG file...
audit the file
save it
and plot that... see if that works.

If not....
Explode everything and purge 3times
save
and plot

if not....
save it as a DXF
open it
save it back to DWG
and plot it....

Thanks Arhitech,

I will give this a try and see what we can come up with. I will post back what I find out.

Thanks

Architech,

Thanks so much for the advice. This was the result of what I did.

1) I would WBLOCK the file out of AutoCAD LT ... 1st....And open the WBLOCK DWG file...audit the file
save it and plot that... see if that works.

I had run it before and only worked on one file, so I was to run the following tests and report the results:

2)If not....Explode everything and purge 3 times, save and plot

Test Result: After I select all objects, hit explode, then the computer froze. I couldn’t close the window. I had to go to Task Manager and end task in order to close window

3) If not....save it as a DXF open it, save it back to DWG and plot it.

Test Result: I was able to save the file as a DXF file and opened it and than saved it back to DWG file, however, after I hit plot and preview, I got the following message:

Not applicable, has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

I had options to Debug or Close. So I closed the window.

Please let me know what you think and what else I can do. Thanks so much!
