We just converted from 97 to 2006. I can not understand the differences of the template files and how to use my standard title block.

Before we would save it in the client folder and then xref it into the other drawings into paperspace

I can not figure out how to xref into paperspace. It keeps ignoring my command.

I am able to open it as a new layout but none of my standards come with it and it is not xref'd.

Please help.
Thank You.

Is your titleblock in modelspace, but xreffed into paperspace (layout mode)?

Are you using Xref manager from menu ? How does it "ignore" your command - any error message?

If my title block is drawn in paperspace, I xref it and the command line says "filename" loaded. I can not find it anywhere. I even do zoom extents.

If my title block is drawn in model space I can xref it no problem. I guess I'll just stick with what I know.?

What you describe is how its supposed to work.

Could it be that your old template had it this way to begin with it....?
Or could it be that it was inserted instead of XREF'd?

Anyway.... what you described above is correct.....

Anything drawn in PAPERSPACE will never be XREF'd.
Think about this....
If you draw something is model space and in paperspace in the same file and XREF that file into another DWG.... how do you dictate which space to XREF?
You can't.... only MODEL spaced item can be XREF'd.

However it doesn't matter which space you XREF to....

I hope that helps.:cup:
