I have a license for AutoCAD R14 but through being a dummy and moving I can no longer find the disc...........I am attempting to transfer my R14 files from an old hard drive to a new one but continue to be unsuccessful in getting all the files. Any suggestions?

8) If you are attempting to copy the program files on to the new hard drive and have the program run then give up NOW as it will need to be installed...copying the files over will NOT work...otherwise we'd all have done it years ago !
Maybe someone has a copy of R14 they're willing to give you a copy of...

Only thing that comes close to working is a total disk copy so everything is included. If you've already installed a new hard disk and written system files to it, you're S-O-L.
At this point you'd have to wipe the new disk clean and copy everything over again and even this can be problematical.....
I've had this done when I swapped machines. My reseller was set up to do total disk copies and that works.
Try you're AutoCad reseller; maybe they can help with obtaining an R14 disk.
Good Luck!

Thank you all very much. Guess I am S-O-L.....
But I appreciate the comments at least I know it is not something I am doing. :?

Not entirely. If you can find a cooperating computer reseller and you still have your old drive, you can:
Reformat the new drive
Copy everything on the old drive to the new drive.
Reinstall everything else you have source disks for on the new drive.
OR:
If you still have a legal license for R14, contact whoever sold you the Acad software and see if they can get a burned copy with your license information ...
OR: Try contacting Autodesk with your story and perhaps they can help. As long as you're still a licensed user, they should retain some responsibility for keeping you working (note the operative word: "should").
Good Luck and I sincerely sympathize with your predicament.
